Needed Equipment & Resources
What Do You Need for the Challenge
If you are a beginner with OCF be sure and check out the free Banning the OCF Jitters course so that you can start getting comfortable with your light. This course will help answer a lot of questions about gear and flash use.
What gear do I need?
Besides the obvious answer of a flash you will also need a trigger (to fire the flash off-camera) and possibly a receiver.
Here are a few additional things you may want for the challenge:
- tripod (for long exposures)
- modifier (we have a post on our recommendations here)
- light stand
- reflector or white posterboard
- black foam core - optional (to make a homemade snoot)
- basic gels - optional
- household objects to shoot thru (colanders, straw hat, lace, or fabric)
If you have questions about these items don't hesitate to contact the challenge leaders Kelly Anderson and/or Leah McLean with questions.
